LUPIA — An American citizen in his late-20s was arrested and charged with possession of a fake medication for a weight-loss drug. The seizure occurred at a convenience store in the city of San Mateo, according to a court.
The seizure was a result of an online pharmacy that claimed to sell Xenical, the generic version of the prescription drug, which is sold as a dietary supplement.
Lupia police said it was sold by a website called "[email protected]" and "[email protected]" that claims to sell a weight-loss medication called "Orlistat."
The website is owned by a San Mateo resident. The website claims to sell "diet pills," "weight-loss diet pills," "diet pill for weight loss diet pills" and other prescription drugs. It states:

Xenical (Orlistat) is used in the treatment of obesity. Xenical should be taken at least 2 hours before or after eating to reduce the chance of a meal or snack interrupting the absorption of some fat. Do not take extra Xenical if you have a serious stomach or intestinal illness (such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis). Do not take more than 3 tablets in 24 hours, unless directed by your doctor. Swallow the tablets whole with a drink of water.
